SDG Boosters focusing on waste-to-energy and education to be organized digitally
UNTIL Finland: SDG Boosters about waste-to-energy and education to be organized digitally

The upcoming SDG Booster workshops in Finland focusing on waste-to-energy (incl. plastic waste) and education will be organized digitally in autumn 2020. The first SDG Booster focusing on education in East Africa will be organized on 20 August and 4 September 2020. The SDG Booster focusing on waste-to-energy will be organized on 2 September and 22 September 2020. The SDG Booster focusing on education in Central Asia will be organized in November, and the dates are to be confirmed.

The SDG Boosters bring together companies, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), financial instruments and thematic experts to develop solutions and projects to address concrete needs identified from developing countries. The goal of the SDG Booster is to accelerate progress to the Sustainable Development Goals through the creation and implementation of innovative digital technology projects.

Each SDG booster is comprised of two workshops around a thematic topic and a geographical region. Starting with data collected on actual needs, we will co-create solutions, projects and consortia to address local challenges and create business with impact. The workshops will be facilitated by leading experts together with Finnpartnership, United Nations Technology Innovation Labs (UNTIL) Finland, Fingo and Business Finland. Participants can then join Finnpartnership for an optional visit to the region to present and offer their solutions to the local stakeholders. The follow-up event for the SDG Booster focusing on education in East Africa will be organized digitally.

You can sign up to the SDG Boosters via the links below:

The follow-up event for the first education-related SDG Booster (East Africa) will be held digitally. For the SDG Boosters focusing on education in Central Asia (Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan) and waste-to-energy in Vietnam and Thailand, the aim is to visit the region after the SDG Boosters with a follow-up event in the target countries, but if this is not possible due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these follow-up events will also be held digitally.

If you have signed up for an upcoming SDG Booster but cannot attend, please contact fp@finnpartnership.fi.

Secretary General

"The advances of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, including those brought on by a combination of computing power, robotics, big data and artificial intelligence, are generating revolutions in health care, transport and manufacturing.
I am convinced that these new capacities can help us to lift millions of people out of poverty, achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and enable developing countries to leap‑frog into a better future."
