Join free SDG Booster Workshops – UNTIL cooperates with Finnpartnership, Fingo and Business Finland

For Finnish companies and organizations: Develop digital commercial solutions for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) with UNTIL, Finnpartnership, Fingo and Business Finland at our free SDG Booster workshops!

Starting in early 2020, the brand-new SDG Boosters will bring together companies, NGOs, financial instruments and thematic experts to develop solutions and projects to address concrete needs identified from developing countries. The goal of the SDG Booster is to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals through the creation and implementation of innovative digital technology projects. Each SDG booster is comprised of two workshops around a specific theme with a geographical region.

Starting with data collected on actual needs, we will co-create solutions, projects and partnerships to address local challenges and create business with impact. The workshops will be facilitated by leading experts together with UNTIL, Finnpartnership, Fingo and Business Finland. Participants can then join Finnpartnership for a visit to the region to present and offer their solutions to the local stakeholders.

The themes and preliminary times of the four SDG Boosters in 2020 are:

  • SDG Booster 1: Geospatial technologies and GIS Solutions for IGAD countries / 23 January and 6 February 2020, with a visit to Kampala for an international event in early March. More info and registrations: click here.
  • SDG Booster 2: Circular economy solutions in Vietnam and Cambodia / March – April 2020, with a visit to the countries on the first week of May
  • SDG Booster 3: Education in Africa / August – September 2020, with a visit to the region in October
  • SDG Booster 4: Health / late 2020, details to be confirmed

SDG Booster 1: Geospatial technologies and GIS Solutions for IGAD countries

Join us in developing digital commercial solutions for the SDGs!

The first of the new SDG Boosters by Finnpartnership, UNTIL, Fingo and Business Finland is about peace and security, focusing specifically on geospatial technologies and GIS solutions for IGAD countries (Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Somalia, the Sudan, South Sudan and Uganda).

Prior to the first SDG Booster, Finnpartnership attended AfricaGIS conference in Kigali, Rwanda in November 2019, collecting information on challenges and needs related to GIS technologies in IGAD countries.

Each SDG Booster will comprise of two workshops. The first workshop for SDG Booster 1 will be held on 23 January 2020 and the second on 6 February 2020. At the first workshop, we come together to assess the needs and the suitability of our solutions. We begin the process of co-creating and developing our projects and partnerships. At the second workshop, we continue to shape our products and projects and identify their development impacts and unique value propositions. We also learn about public funding opportunities available through Finnpartnership and Business Finland.

After the workshops, Finnpartnership will arrange a “Doing Business with Finland” seminar in Kampala, Uganda in March 2020 where the results and solutions will be presented to business and government leaders of IGAD countries.

Due to limited number of seats, please note that the organizers reserve the right to select the most suitable participants in order to ensure cross-sectoral contribution to the Boosters.

The Boosters will be arranged in accessible facilities.

Secretary General

"The advances of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, including those brought on by a combination of computing power, robotics, big data and artificial intelligence, are generating revolutions in health care, transport and manufacturing.
I am convinced that these new capacities can help us to lift millions of people out of poverty, achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and enable developing countries to leap‑frog into a better future."
