The purpose of this note is to provide information regarding the upcoming activity of the UNCCT project “Enhancing the Capacity of Member States to Prevent and Investigate Cyber-Attacks by Terrorist Actors and Mitigate their Impact”. The activity consists of a HACKATHON event on ‘Countering Terrorist Use of the Internet and Social Media through Digital and Cyber-Security Solutions’ organized by the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Centre (UNCCT), within the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), in collaboration with the Office of Information and Communication Technology (OICT).

The note contains information on the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, the project under which this activity is taking place, the need to raise awareness of cyber-threats posed by terrorist actors and to enhance knowledge on potential solutions to increase the protection against malicious cyber acts and, finally, details about the contents of the activity itself.

Representative from the top ranking teams will win a trip to United Nations, Vienna, Austria at #CYBERCHALLENGE event on December 05, 2019.

Air tickets (economy class), terminal expenses and daily subsistence allowance (DSA) to travel to the event for the two days of the event will be provided by UNCCT.
